In 1933 the Japanese Imperial Navy had designed a standard intermediate trainer type 93, to be manufactured by several major aircraft manufacturers in Japan. The Army had at about the same time contracted a very similar trainer, Type 95, for their purpose. The Japanese Imperial Navy version was basically a landplane but one version, 5KY2, was equipped with two floats and used for seaplane bases.

The float version was developed with increased fin area and a stronger engine. Also the fuselage is different with more rearward placing of the rear float strut attachment point.

Our model is painted as in the documentation ”Famous Airplanes of the World” #44, 1994-1.

The airplane is packed in a strong 3-ply, custom made carton. The individual parts are packed in sealed plastic bags and then wrapped in bubble plastic to ensure safe transport.

Carton Size:
Length    :    163 cm 65"
Width      :    43 cm 17"
Height     :     55 cm 22"
